Am - DW first day of ski school, very nervous. Looked like his first day back at school. Bless.
I decided to go off on my own, being a seasoned pro! Well actually I was a little shaky on the old two planks of wood and it was very icy. Did a couple of green runs and blue to find my ski legs.
If you ever go to Les Deux Alpes note this: there are only 2 runs to ski back to our hotel, a black run or a nice easy green run. Stop there! A nice easy green run, I don' think so... it was 3km of winding switch backs and as narrow as slow boat to China, you couldn't turn, go at any pace without fear of going over the edge into the abyss or slamming into a wall of ice. I took the latter route and slam dunked into the wall of ice, so much better than death, I think! Well, talk about crash landing, I really thought I was going to break my leg, I saw the crash before I ate the ice, my God did it hurt and I have a lovely array of bruises to show. Luckily no broken bones only pride. The good thing is, everyone else I spoke to about this run said exactly the same :-)
PM - Met DW for some lunch and took him off up the slopes on the green runs, but he also did a blue run, which was fantastic for his 1st day on the slopes, well done you. I explained to him about the green run back to the hotel and asked him whether he might like to try or go back via the chair lift. Now, now before you go off at the deep end I did thoroughly explain what the green run was like to DW, he decided to go for it!!!! Oh dear....snow ploughed all the way down as scared, not surprising to be fair. knocked his confidence no end...whoops...sorry DW :-(
Eve - Nice times in the bar, having afternoon tea and playing scrabble. I have found a new game to play. I love it. Getting too old me thinks. Dinner absolutely scrumptious - 3 courses and a bottle of wine! The think about skiing is that is knackers you out, so for us oldies thinking of tripping the light fantastic with the Apres ski is unlikely. Bed time by 10ish!!!!
